28 March 2017 - Farfetch, the online platform to shop the world’s greatest selection of luxury, announces the exclusive launch of UAE based ready-to-wear brand Reemami and Egypt based accessories brand Okhtein. The special collections will be available exclusively online at Farfetch and in-store through retail partners: Browns (London), Curve boutique (USA) and Al’Ostoura (Kuwait).
Reemami’s exclusive capsule for Farfetch, produced by Palestinian born and UAE based designer Reema Al Banna, features a collection of artistic Spring/Summer 2017 prints. Inspired by Al Banna’s love for climbing, the collection blends playful hand illustrations of mountains, stars and climbers, along with intricate detailing of detachable layers, strings, eyelets and knots.
Accessories brand Okhtein is the brainchild of Egyptian sisters Aya and Mounaz Abdelraouf. Their exclusive SS17 collection for Farfetch, named Nomadic Citizen, includes a selection of fresh accessories that have captured the imagination of both eastern and western cultures. Featuring embossed metalwork, tassel details and sumptuous leather pieces, the collection is Okhtein's reflection on the youthful generations’ desire for wanderlust. The revival of their debut shape, The Dome, runs throughout and brings Egyptian inspired elegance to the collection.
Stephanie Horton, Chief Marketing Officer at Farfetch, commented: “At Farfetch we are committed to offering our customers the greatest selection of luxury from the very best designers and brands. We are delighted to count Reemami and Okhtein as the latest additions to the Farfetch network; giving them a global platform and providing our customers with exclusive access to their SS17 collections. We were impressed by the design talent shown at The Fashion Prize, especially these winning collections.”
Reemami and Okhtein are the winners of the 2016 DDFC/ Vogue Arabia Fashion Prize. As part of their prize, the winners received exclusive retail pick up and support from Farfetch, along with a financial grant, advertising support, and mentorship. The first of its kind in the Middle East region, the Fashion Prize was launched in 2015 by Vogue Arabia in partnership with the Dubai Design & Fashion Council and Farfetch, to invigorate regional talent by providing a yearly program for emerging regional designers to showcase their abilities. These new collections follow last year’s winners Hussein Bazaza and Hind Matar, who also launched their winning capsules exclusively on Farfetch.
The exclusive collections from Reemami and Okhtein will be available for Farfetch customers from 28 March 2017.
